The fall season is upon us. If you want to spend it riding your motorcycle, read this post to find tips on how you can do so in a safe and responsible manner.

How to Be a Responsible Motorcycle Rider This Fall Season

To some motorcycle owners, the fall season is the perfect to ride in, as it provides cooler temperatures, beautiful scenery, and a certain ease to it. However, for you to remain as safe as possible during your autumnal rides, you need to take a few extra steps. To find out what these are, continue reading the post below.

Purchase the best products for your motorcycle's maintenance through AMSOIL's online store or by calling John O Brown in Show Low at (520) 444-2634.

Pay Attention to the Tires

As you may be aware, the weather can cause certain objects to expand or contract, depending on whether it's hot or cold. What you may not know is that this change in shape can actually cause your tires to not work as expected. That's why, as the weather starts to cool down, you need to inspect your tires to make sure that they're not deflated or damaged. Doing so will guarantee that you'll ride smoothly this fall.

Inspect the Battery

Fall weather can be pretty harsh, especially if you're riding down the road on your motorcycle and all of the cold air is hitting you in the face relentlessly. For this reason, many bikers stop riding as often once the temperature begins to drop. If you're one of them, but would like to go on a fall ride every once in awhile, just remember to inspect the battery, as the idle periods can cause it to discharge and leave you stranded.

Maintain the Chain

For your tires to roll you around everywhere you want to go, they need a chain that will get the rear wheel moving. But, that chain needs to be properly maintained for it to work as desired. This includes making sure that it is well-lubricated (something you should do around twice a month). Still, now that the weather is colder, the chain is more prone to lose lubrication, which is why you should pay extra attention to it.

Visit a Trusted Mechanic

As you may be aware, regular visits to a professional mechanic are a must to keep any vehicle working as expected. Now that the weather and the conditions are changing, it is the perfect time to have an expert take a look at it, assess its condition, and fix any issues. This to guarantee that your motorcycle will be ready to face the challenges of the new season. For example, they can take care of replacing the synthetic oil to keep the engine running smoothly.

Feed your engine AMSOIL 20W-50 Synthetic V-Twin Motorcycle Oil to maintain it in mint condition. Call John O Brown at (520) 444-2634 to place an order for the best synthetic oil in Show Low.

Change Out Your Riding Gear

There's riding gear that you should always wear, no matter what time of the year it is (such as your helmet). However, there are other pieces that you can adapt to the weather and conditions around you. For example, during the summer, you probably opted for light fabrics that would allow you to stay fresh. But, now that the days are chillier, you will need to go for thicker impact-resistant clothing that will cover you from the cold as well as protect you in case of an accident.

Be Extra Careful

Needless to say, you should always be incredibly careful when you're riding your motorcycle. However, as the conditions change, you will need to adapt to them. For instance, you'll likely find dead leaves and dirt on the road during the fall, which can make your motorcycle skid. For that reason, you need to be extra careful, so you can avoid them effectively. Likewise, you will need to pay more attention as the fall holidays (e.g. Thanksgiving) approach, since the roads will be much busier.

Prepare to Winterize It

Lastly, if you think you will need to store your motorcycle during the winter, the fall season gives you the perfect opportunity to prepare for that event. Start acquiring the things you'll need to winterize your motorcycle, so you don't have to do it all at the last minute. For instance, as Bike Bandit suggests, a sturdy motorcycle cover can help your motorcycle survive the winter in one piece.
